Schwäbisch Hall and Loughborough |
![]() |
Schwäbisch Hall is in South West Germany, fairly near Stuttgart. There is a very strong Exchange group in regular communication between
Germany and Loughborough. Think of Schwäbisch Hall in Germany and you
could be thinking of Halifax in England, for the town gives its name to
one of Germany's largest 'sparbaukasse' or building societies.
Weather in Schwäbisch Hall.
But Schwäbisch Hall has a richer history. In the middle ages it became a centre of the salt industry. Later salt was produced by simmering saline from the deep salt wells under the town. There's so much more to learn about Schwäbisch Hall, so why don't you visit their web site - and take the next trip out there from Loughborough - in 2000. In Easter 1999 a group came from Germany. The visit included trips to Skegness and Blenheim Palace (quite similar, really) as well as a Mayoral Reception.
The new Mayor of Schwäbisch Hall, Herr Pelgrim came to Loughborough later in April 1999 for his first visit since taking office in 1998.
Schwäbisch Hall is also twinned with our Polish twin town Zamość.
